FASTNET LINE GEARS UP FOR CLASSIC CARS’ TOUR TO IRELAND - Holiday motorists on board the Fastnet Line enjoyed a spectacular treat recently when almost 40 classic AC cars embarked on the MV Julia at Swansea docks on their way to a special tour of the picturesque Skibbereen area of West Cork.

 AC is one of the oldest independent car marques founded in Britain and its cars have become famous - and highly collectable - the world over.

Management and staff at Clóna Dairies have congratulated Fastnet Line on their exceptional mid-season passenger figures.

 

Fastnet Line, the company that operates the Swansea-Cork Ferry, is reporting strong passenger uptake following the revival of the Swansea-Cork Ferry service nearly three months ago. Well over 35,000 people have already travelled on the service with more than 15,000 vehicles having already been carried.

Business was suffering badly,

And many were thinking of gladly

Closing down their B&B

Or hotel in Tralee -

But most viewed the future quite sadly.

Wedding Dates Wife Carrying Team

Fastnet Line is doing its bit for Cork’s participants in the World Wife Carrying Championships which take place in Sonkajärvi, Finland on July 3rd this year. Ciara Crossan of weddingdates.ie will be revisiting the scene of her third place finish in the relay race last year and “Most Entertaining Couple” award with carrier James Kennedy.

FASTNET LINE CHIEF EXECUTIVE CELEBRATES FLYING START TO SWANSEA TO CORK ROUTE

New Fastnet Line Chief Executive, Phil Jones, spoke at the official launch of the Swansea to Cork route on the MV Julia today (12 May 2010) and reported tourism traffic figures were 100% higher in April than predictions and pre bookings are currently exceeding expectations.

Fastnet Line’s Chief Executive Phil Jones met with Welsh businesses in Swansea today (Wednesday 12 May 2010) to officially launch the Swansea Cork route and deliver good news about the first two months of trading.

Fastnet Line’s MV Julia sets sail for Cork amidst great expectations of increased tourism traffic to and from Ireland and Wales, and pre-bookings topping €1m.

Fastnet Line’s MV Julia has set sail on its inaugural trip from Swansea to Cork  tonight (10th March 2010), commencing its car/passenger and freight ferry service across the Irish Sea. Having completed its dry-docking process successfully and achieved relevant certification and testing of safety systems, the ship has met the strict requirements demanded by the International Safety Management Code (ISM).  
The 1,860 passenger, car and commercial freight-carrying vessel, which has captured the hearts and imagination of the Irish and Welsh nations, has received booking revenues in excess of €1m to date.

UCC President endorses Ferry route

The President of University College Cork, Dr. Michael Murphy, has today (9TH February 2010) endorsed the new Cork to Swansea route aboard the M.V. Julia, which is due to commence on March lst next.
